Since the site itself requires a registration, (it's a ground rule decision), we see no reasons to have everything but the downloads section closed to guests.

It's a simple process required, and - again - those interested in custom files - will register and download. Those who's interest is low and consider it's not worth the effort of registering, won't give a rats ass about the downloads over there. A personal choice really!
